Support
We’re glad to help. Write to lodestar@nookpages.com, or in Lodestar, open Settings › Contact support. Tell us your iPhone model, your iOS version and what happened; a screenshot helps. Please don’t send passwords or payment details.
Restore your purchases
If you subscribed to Lodestar Pro and it isn’t showing:
- Make sure your iPhone is signed in to the Apple Account you subscribed with.
- In Lodestar, open Settings › Subscription › Restore purchases. The subscription screen also has Restore at the bottom.
A new subscription can take a moment to reach Lodestar: if Ask says it’s confirming your subscription, try again in a minute.
To use Lodestar Pro on more than one iPhone, sign in to the same Lodestar account on each (Settings › Create your account, which also signs in to an account you already have), then tap Restore purchases if Pro isn’t showing. Restoring on an iPhone that isn’t signed in to that account moves Lodestar Pro to it, away from your other iPhone.
Cancel or change a subscription
- Open your iPhone’s Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions, then Lodestar.
- Tap Cancel Subscription, or Cancel Free Trial during a trial.
In Lodestar, Settings › Subscription › Manage subscription opens the same page. Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial ends or your subscription renews to avoid the next charge. Deleting Lodestar, or your Lodestar account, doesn’t cancel a subscription.
The same page switches between weekly, monthly and yearly; the new plan starts when your current period ends. The 7-day free trial comes with the weekly plan only. With notifications on, Lodestar reminds you two days before it ends, and Settings › Subscription always shows the day it ends.
Apple processes App Store refunds: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. In Australia and New Zealand, consumer law may also entitle you to a remedy: email us and we’ll help.
Delete your account
In Lodestar, open Settings, scroll down, tap Delete account and confirm. This deletes your Lodestar account and its data, whether or not you ever signed in: on our servers (your birth details, the people you added, your saved readings and your reports), at RevenueCat and PostHog, and on your iPhone. Some records aren’t deleted right away, such as backups and server logs (about 7 days), what our AI provider received (up to 30 days, longer if it was flagged for misuse) and any emails you sent us. Our Privacy Policy lists them all.
Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an App Store subscription. If you have one, cancel it as well.
If you don’t know your birth time
Your birth time sets your rising sign and your houses. The rising sign changes about every two hours, so the time matters. When you enter it, choose how sure you are:
- Exact: the time is on a record, such as your birth certificate.
- Roughly: pick your best guess. Your rising sign and houses may be off, and your chart says so.
- Don’t know: your chart leaves out the rising sign, the Midheaven and the houses rather than guess. If the Moon changed sign on the day you were born, Lodestar shows both signs, such as “Moon in Taurus or Gemini”. The other planets move a degree or two a day at most, so Lodestar places them where they were at noon on your birth date.
Readings and answers never name a rising sign or a house your chart doesn’t have. Found your time later? Add it in Settings › Birth details: Lodestar recalculates your chart, and your readings refresh. For someone you added, open them in People, tap the More button (⋯) at the top, then Edit.
Time zones and daylight saving time
Lodestar reads your birth time with the time zone that was in force where and when you were born, from the historical records of the IANA time zone database, not your iPhone’s time zone today. Clocks have changed over the years: places moved between time zones, and daylight saving time came and went.
After your birthplace, Lodestar shows the difference from UTC it used, such as “UTC−04:00, daylight saving time”, and which place’s records it came from. You’ll find the same in Settings › Birth details, and in the details of anyone you add.
- “Was daylight saving time in effect?” Lodestar asks when the records can’t be sure: the clocks went forward that night and skipped your birth time, or went back so it happened twice; you were born in the US before 1967, when each place chose whether to use daylight saving time; or you were born anywhere before 1970, when the records aren’t always complete. It picks the answer the records suggest. Not sure? Keep it.
- Local mean time: before standard time zones (in the US, until November 1883), clocks kept each town’s own time. For a birth that early, Lodestar uses the local mean time of your birthplace.
- Your record says otherwise? Tap Change and pick the difference from UTC your record gives. Use the time zone records goes back to Lodestar’s.
Your chart is always drawn for the moment you were born, wherever your iPhone is now. Today’s sky, your daily reading and the sky calendar follow your iPhone’s time zone. If a time zone still looks wrong, email us your birthplace, the time zone Lodestar shows and the one your record gives.
House systems
Houses divide your chart into twelve areas of life, starting from your rising sign, so they need your birth time. Lodestar offers two systems. Pick one on the Chart tab, under Houses: your wheel, your lists, Ask and new readings follow it, and it’s saved with your birth details.
- Placidus, Lodestar’s default, divides the sky by time, so its houses come in different sizes. It’s the most widely used system in modern Western astrology.
- Whole Sign makes each house one whole sign, starting with your rising sign’s. It’s the oldest system, from ancient Greek astrology.
Both use the same planets and signs: only which house a planet falls in can change. Placidus houses aren’t defined close to the poles, so for a birthplace at 66° north or south or beyond, Lodestar uses Whole Sign houses and says so on your chart.
Ask says it’s for adults, but I’m 18 or older
Ask is for adults 18 and older, and Lodestar works out your age from the birth date in your chart; there’s no separate age question. If Ask says it’s for adults and that’s wrong, your birth date probably is too:
- Open Settings › Birth details and check the date.
- Fix it and tap Save. Lodestar shows the age the new date gives: tap Yes, that’s right.
Ask opens as soon as the date says you’re 18 or older, and your chart and readings follow the new date. If a birth date under 18 was confirmed with Yes, that’s right on this iPhone before, Ask stays closed on it until the 18th birthday by that date, even after you fix the date: Lodestar keeps that day on this iPhone until the app is deleted.
Report a reading or an answer
Under every reply in Ask, tap Report and choose what was wrong: Wrong about my chart, Made a prediction, Unsafe or harmful, Not respectful or Didn’t answer my question. Then choose whether to send your question and the reply with your report, or the reason only. When Lodestar shows its own crisis help in place of a question it didn’t send, Report sends the reason only: that question never leaves your iPhone.
Every reading has Report under it too: your first reading, the daily reading on Today, your full chart reading and each compatibility reading. Choose what was wrong, then Send with this reading or Send the reason only. The Lodestar team reads every report.
Move to a new iPhone
Lodestar saves your birth details, first name, house system, the people you added and your full chart and compatibility readings to your Lodestar account as you go, even before you sign in. To get them back on a new iPhone, or after reinstalling Lodestar, sign in first on your current iPhone:
- In Lodestar, open Settings and tap Create your account (which also signs in to an account you already have).
- Choose Continue with Apple or Continue with email.
On your new iPhone, tap I already use Lodestar on the welcome screen and sign in the same way. Your chart comes back, and Lodestar asks only about AI and the time of your daily reading. If Lodestar Pro isn’t showing, use Restore purchases.
Your reminders and your settings stay on each iPhone, and readings older than 90 days stay only on the iPhone that has them. Your Ask conversation stays on the iPhone you asked on: Lodestar keeps it out of backups, so it doesn’t move to a new iPhone, even from a backup.
Reminders and widgets
Daily reading: in Lodestar, open Settings › Reminders to turn it on and choose its time. New and full moons, and Mercury, Venus or Mars turning retrograde or direct, have their own switches there. Lodestar sends one notification a day at most, and nothing personal shows on your Lock Screen. If reminders don’t arrive, check your iPhone’s Settings › Notifications › Lodestar, and any Focus that’s on.
Add a widget: touch and hold an empty spot on your Home Screen until the apps jiggle, tap Edit, then Add Widget (on iOS 17, tap + instead), search for Lodestar, choose Moon or Today and tap Add Widget. For your Lock Screen, touch and hold it, tap Customize, then Lock Screen, and tap the widget area to add Lodestar’s Moon.
If you need someone to talk to
Lodestar isn’t an emergency service. If you might hurt yourself or someone else, or you aren’t safe, call your local emergency number now: 911 in the United States and Canada, 000 in Australia, or 111 in New Zealand.
These crisis lines are free and confidential, and open day and night:
- United States: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Call or text 988.
- Canada: 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline. Call or text 988.
- Australia: Lifeline. Call 13 11 14.
- New Zealand: Need to talk? Call or text 1737.
How Lodestar responds in Ask:
- If a message says in plain words that you may be in danger, Lodestar doesn’t send it: it shows its own words and these lines at once, never an AI answer. That message never leaves your iPhone.
- If a question mentions suicide, self-harm, an overdose, a medical emergency or someone hurting you, without saying you’re in danger now, Lodestar sends it and shows these lines at once. The reply is then Lodestar’s own crisis words, or a gentle answer written by AI and checked by our server, with the lines.
- Answers about grief, abuse or depression show the lines too.
- Lodestar doesn’t keep either kind of question, or its reply, on your iPhone.
- Lodestar spots these by their words and can miss a message put another way: if you’re in danger, call one of the numbers above now.
Ask isn’t a person, an astrologer, a counselor or a doctor, and Lodestar doesn’t contact anyone for you.
Your data and privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what Lodestar collects and why. In Lodestar:
- Settings › AI turns AI readings and Ask off, withdrawing your consent. Your chart, Today’s sky and the sky calendar keep working.
- Settings › Privacy › Share usage analytics turns usage analytics on or off. On a new install, they start off if your iPhone’s Region is in the EU or EEA, the UK or Switzerland, and on elsewhere. Your saved choice is kept.
- Settings › Birth details changes your birth details and your first name, or removes the name.
- In People, open someone, tap the More button (⋯) at the top, then Remove, to delete their details and any reading about them.
- In Ask, the New conversation button at the top right deletes the conversation from your iPhone.
To ask for a copy of your data, or to have it corrected or deleted, email lodestar@nookpages.com from your Lodestar account’s email address. An account that never signed in has no email address: delete it in Settings › Delete account.
