Terms of Use

Lodestar: Astrology & Charts · Effective November 4, 2026

These terms are between you and Dogs in Boots, LLC (“we”, “us”), the maker of Lodestar. Lodestar is licensed to you under Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. The terms below add to it; if they conflict, the Standard EULA wins. By using Lodestar, you agree to both, and Lodestar’s subscription screen says so too: by starting your free trial or subscribing to Lodestar Pro, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

1. Lodestar Pro

Lodestar is free to download. Your chart (the big three, the wheel and every placement, aspect and house, with what each means), Today’s daily reading with its “Why”, the Moon and the sky calendar, widgets and reminders, the people you add and what connects your charts are free, with 3 Ask questions in any 24 hours. Lodestar Pro is an optional subscription that adds:

• your full chart reading;
• compatibility readings for the people you add;
• Ask, within the fair-use limit below.

The subscription screen in Lodestar shows what Lodestar Pro includes and what it costs before you buy.

Plans and prices

• Lodestar Pro Weekly: US$3.99 a week, starting with a 7-day free trial if you’re eligible.
• Lodestar Pro Monthly: US$12.99 a month, without a free trial.
• Lodestar Pro Yearly: US$39.99 a year, without a free trial.

In Canada, Australia and New Zealand, the App Store shows the price in your currency before you buy. Taxes may apply.

Payment and automatic renewal

• Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm your purchase or, with a free trial, when the trial ends.
• Your subscription renews automatically for the same length of time, at the then-current price, unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Apple charges the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
• If the price goes up, Apple tells you before it applies and, where required, asks you to agree.

Free trial

The weekly plan starts with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, as the App Store decides; it’s the only plan with a trial. If you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, Apple charges the weekly price and your subscription begins. If you allow notifications, Lodestar reminds you two days before the trial ends, and Settings › Subscription always shows the day it ends.

Cancelling

• Cancel anytime in your iPhone’s Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Lodestar, or in Lodestar under Settings › Subscription › Manage subscription.
• To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your trial ends or your subscription renews. After you cancel a paid subscription, Lodestar Pro stays on until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
• Deleting Lodestar, or your Lodestar account, doesn’t cancel your subscription.

Refunds

Apple processes App Store payments and refunds: you can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. This doesn’t limit your rights under consumer law. In Australia and New Zealand, if Lodestar Pro has a major problem, you may be entitled to a refund or another remedy: email lodestar@nookpages.com and we’ll help.

Restoring and Family Sharing

To use Lodestar Pro on more than one iPhone, sign in to the same Lodestar account on each (Settings › Create your account, which also signs in to an account you already have). If Pro isn’t showing, open Settings › Subscription › Restore purchases while signed in to the Apple Account you subscribed with. Restoring on an iPhone that isn’t signed in to that Lodestar account moves Lodestar Pro to it, away from your other iPhone. Lodestar Pro isn’t shared through Family Sharing.

Fair use

Ask comes with Lodestar Pro as fair use: currently up to 30 Ask messages in any 24 hours, where a full chart reading or a compatibility reading counts as 2. Settings › Subscription shows what you have left, as AI credits. Free readings also have a daily limit, far above everyday use. These limits are there to prevent abuse and keep Lodestar affordable. If we lower Pro’s limit, the new limit applies from your next renewal, never in the middle of a period you’ve paid for, and we’ll tell you in Lodestar before then.

2. Readings, Ask and AI

• Lodestar calculates every position, sign, house, aspect, transit, Moon phase and sky event itself, from the birth details you give. A chart is only as right as those details.
• Readings and Ask’s answers put those calculated facts into words. They’re written by AI, Anthropic’s Claude, and checked automatically before you see them. They can still be wrong or incomplete.
• Lodestar is for reflection and entertainment. It doesn’t predict the future, and it doesn’t claim to tell fortunes or to have any special powers. Readings and answers don’t foretell health, death, pregnancy, money, legal outcomes, or what someone else feels or will do; if one seems to, please tell us.
• They aren’t medical, mental health, legal or financial advice, and Lodestar isn’t counselling, therapy or mental health care. Don’t rely on them for decisions about your health, your safety, money or legal matters.
• Lodestar’s AI isn’t a person, an astrologer or a psychic, and it doesn’t role-play.
• Lodestar isn’t an emergency service, and it doesn’t contact anyone for you. If you’re in danger or in crisis, call your local emergency number or a crisis line: our Support page lists them and says how Lodestar responds.
• If a reading or an answer in Ask looks wrong, tap Report under it. For anything else, email us.

Using Ask

• Ask is for adults 18 and older. Lodestar works out your age from the birth date you give for your chart and confirm, and Ask stays closed while that date says you’re under 18. Once you confirm a date under 18, Ask stays closed on that iPhone until your 18th birthday by that date, even if you change the date. Please give your real birth date.
• Leave out full names and private details, yours or anyone else’s: Ask knows the people you’ve added by the nickname you gave them.
• Don’t use Ask to try to get harmful content or to get around its rules.
• We may pause Ask or readings while we fix a problem, and we may limit or block accounts that misuse them.

3. Who can use Lodestar

Lodestar is for people 13 and older. Ask is for adults 18 and older, as above. If you’re under 13, please don’t use Lodestar: if the birth date you confirm says you’re under 13, Lodestar stops there, and stays stopped on that iPhone.

4. The people you add

• Add someone only with their permission: Lodestar asks you to confirm it when you add them or change their birth details, and you’re responsible for having it.
• Lodestar keeps the nickname you give them and their birth details, saved to your account like your own. It never adds anyone from your contacts or from a chat.
• Use what Lodestar shows about someone for reflection, never to judge, check on, track or pressure them.
• You can edit or remove anyone at any time. Removing someone deletes their nickname, their birth details and any reading about them.

5. Your account

• Lodestar creates an account for you automatically, without your name or email, and saves your birth details, the people you add and your Pro readings to it. Signing in with Apple or email lets you get them back on another iPhone; keep that Apple Account or email account secure.
• You can delete your account at any time in Settings › Delete account. Our Privacy Policy explains what that deletes.
• We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or harms Lodestar or other people.

6. Using Lodestar fairly

Please don’t use automated tools to access Lodestar or its servers, copy Lodestar’s readings or explanations in bulk, try to get around limits, the free trial or the subscription (for example, with many accounts), interfere with Lodestar’s servers, or use Lodestar to break the law or to harm, harass or deceive anyone.

7. Lodestar’s content

• Birthplaces come from GeoNames, under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license: places with 5,000 or more people, reduced to their names, regions, countries, coordinates, time zones and populations, with the Spanish names of some places and regions from GeoNames’ alternate names. GeoNames provides its data “as is”, without warranty of its accuracy, timeliness or completeness.
• Country names in Spanish come from the Unicode CLDR, under the Unicode License v3; the About Lodestar screen (in Settings) shows its notice in full.
• The history of each place’s time zone comes from the IANA time zone database, which is in the public domain.
• Positions are calculated with Astronomy Engine, under the MIT license.
• Apart from these, Lodestar’s content and software, including its readings and explanations, are for your personal, non-commercial use.

8. Changes

Lodestar will change over time: we may add, change or remove features, or pause one while we fix a problem. If a change reduces what Lodestar Pro includes, or lowers its fair-use limit, it takes effect at your next renewal, never in the middle of a period you’ve paid for, and we’ll tell you in Lodestar before then. We may also update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top, and if a change is significant, we’ll let you know in Lodestar or on this page before it takes effect. If you keep using Lodestar after that, the new terms apply.

9. Your rights as a consumer

The Standard EULA’s disclaimers and limits of liability apply to Lodestar to the extent the law allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer laws that can’t be excluded, such as the Australian Consumer Law and New Zealand’s Consumer Guarantees Act.
